Join Wurzweiler in Serving U.S. Military Veterans

The impacts of service-related trauma can also manifest as more generalized behavioral issues, sometimes leading to ejection from the service, and an inability to transition back into civilian life. Leaders at the Wurzweiler School of Social Work have long recognized this situation as well as the critical need for effective social work support among military veterans and their families.

In 2012, Wurzweiler professor Dr. Joan Beder responded to this need by co-creating several courses that focus on how to address the physical and mental challenges common among veterans and active-duty soldiers. These are now offered as elective courses for students enrolled in the online Master of Social Work (MSW) program.

Continue Your Mission to Serve Others

Social work is a common pursuit among those who are retiring from the military and seeking a new career path. Perhaps because they understand firsthand the mental, emotional and physical struggles that can accompany military service and retirement, veterans are often well-suited to this line of work and may be uniquely equipped to engage former service members.

If you are a military veteran considering a future in social work, contact an Admissions Outreach Advisor today to learn how the online MSW program at Wurzweiler could empower you to serve others in a new and impactful way.
